Real Bride Top Tips #3

These tips come from Kate and Daniel, who got married on the 16th August at Athelhampton House in Dorset. Again the good old British summer threatened to ruin everything, but Kate and Daniel had a great day and smiled through it all.

Hi Courtenay

Happy New Year to everyone at Courtenay Photographic! Our favourite shot is this one:

We love this one for a number of reasons; the way you have caught the light in this shot is great you’d never know it was a rather wet day, even though there is loads of greenery in the background it doesn’t merge into one you can see all the different shades of green. We also like the way you have caught us as I’m sure you can remember even though Dan and I have been together for over a decade we still struggled with looking lovingly at each other and this captures the moment perfectly, we look natural and relaxed!

Top Tips

1. Meet and Book the key things/people early! Photographer, Venue and Florist. The good ones get booked up early especially at key times of the year and if your only planning to do it once you don’t want to be let down on these things.

2. Book a photographer you get on with and can be relaxed around, the only way the photos are going to capture the day as you want to remember it is if you can be relaxed around the photographer!

3. Don’t’ forget your veil! If you decide to wear a veil don’t leave it on the bed and forget to put it on. Courtenay has taken a great couple of shots at the beginning of the ceremony where I’m not looking overly happy this is the point Ive realised that I left my veil behind still Ive got a lovely picture of it draped over the mirror!

Good Luck to all those getting married this year

Dan and Kate

Athelhampton House Dorset Wedding of Nerys & Pete

Now I love Athelhampton House, nestled in the heart of the Dorset countryside just down the road from the historic Tolpuddle (apt name as you will see). Once the home of Anne Boleyn, now a beautiful location for the perfect wedding. Wonderful architecture, stunning gardens, with pyramids of Yew and flowers to compliment all seasons. All thats needed to make the recipe perfect (apart from a loving couple of course!) is the gentle beams of delicate spring sunshine. Well that’s an ideal of course, but what we had last Saturday was far far from the ideal (I think you will get the general idea from the theme we have running through the few taster images we have below – Umbrella anyone?), High winds and torrential rain, and then some! All day and all night it pelted down, with exception of a ten minute lull to at least allow a few outside images, even then it was cold and the brolly was never far away. Nerys and Pete are a lovely couple and their love for one another and their family and friends was evident from the very start, so no matter the rain and wind the occasion was a warm and happy one.

Compton Acres Dorset Wedding of Claire & Nick

Claire and Nick are a lovely couple, shy and quite private people, they have been together a while and have a lovely little girl. Stuart new he was going to have a good day with Claire and Nick after their pre-shoot down on Sandbanks beach. The couple were just very relaxed and to them their wedding day was about family and children especially their gorgeous daughter.

The day itself was true to their thoughts and desires, a lovely family event, gentle, fun and romantic. Stuart did manage to take Claire and Nick off for a small break without the children, and they were glad to have a little ‘them’ time, which also allowed Stuart to capture some tender moments, in the beautiful grounds of Compton Acres in Poole Dorset.
Not the large type of wedding we are used to covering, but wonderful all the same, and the evening did end up with a great band and plenty of dancing, whilst other guests just wandered amongst the lovely Chinese gardens.
