Down by the Sea eShoot with Francesca & Tim

Last week I met up with the very lovely Francesca and Tim for their eShoot. A very special piece of private family land right by the sea in Poole Dorset, made even more special because it’s where Tim actually proposed to Francesca…at the end of the boardwalk :-)

Francesca and Tim are getting married on the 18th June this year in the lovely Church of St Marks in Burton Bradstock and then heading back to the family home for a wonderful marquee wedding reception.

Here are a few images from their eShoot…

Sandbanks Poole Dorset eshoot of Juliet and Ed

I met up with Juliet and Ed the other day at Shell Bay Sandbanks near Poole Dorset for their eshoot. When we arrived it was blowing a hooley and the rain was driving almost horizontally, so we sat in the truck and had a bit of a chat about their day. Before we knew it the rain stopped the sky cleared and the sun finally poked its head out, time to get down to the beach for a bit of fun and some picture taking.  Juliet and Ed are certainly a fun couple and were up for getting in the water and jumping off sand dunes, we had a great time.

Juliet and Ed are getting married in September at st Mary’s Church in Dorchester and then going on to Lorton House in Weymouth for their reception. I am really looking forward to their wedding as I’m sure like them its going to be great fun!

New Bride Top Tips #14

Today’s Top Tip’s and favourite picture(s) come from Sarah & Mada. Sarah and Mada were married on the 30th July last year at St Andrews Church on Richmond Hill Bournemouth Dorset. It was a beautiful day although there had been several heavy showers in the morning, the last significant one was just as Sarah arrived at the church, but she made it inside okay and from then on the sun shone. After the ceremony we proceeded over the road to the lovely Bournemouth gardens for the family formals, before heading off to the Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole Dorset for the reception. A little later Sarah, Mada and I slipped away down to Sandbanks beach in Poole for a little quiet time and to capture a few lovely sunset images, it was truly a lovely relaxed day, just the way it should be.

This is what Mada and Sarah had to say…

Hi Courtenay,

It was so nice catching up with you. There were so many beautiful photos in our album it was almost impossible to choose but in the end we narrowed them down to two favourites.

Top Tips:

1. Things might go wrong during the preparations and levels of anxiety might rise, but rest assured your day will be amazing and memorable.

2. Unless you are an expert at tying bows for cars, then best to ask your florist to do them for you at least a couple of day before the big day.

3. Take a few moments together to soak in the atmosphere and savour the moment a number of times throughout the day; it will go very quickly!

All the best,

Mada & Sarah

Harbour Heights Dorset Wedding of Sarah & Mada

You can now view Sarah & Mada’s Harbour Heights Wedding Album over on the main Wedding Photography site if you click here!
Another fantastic day ( a few squally showers around but nothing to worry about) for a wedding. My first port of call today is to Sarah’s family home in Ringwood, to capture the dress details, shoes, flowers etc. Its then down to Bournemouth to find the Girls being pampered (hair make-up etc) at Scissors Salon. Next I move on to the boys not very far away, Mada and his groomsmen very smart all dressed in white. I spend a little time with the boys before moving on again to the Church St Andrews on Richmond Hill where the ceremony is to take place. Soon guests are arriving and the colours of dress is fantastic – it is good to note here that Mada and his family are from Malawi.
Just as Sarah pulls up at the church, the heavens open (typical!) but she is soon inside and down the aisle to the waiting Mada. The ceremony over Sarah and Mada enter into beautiful sunshine and a hail of confetti! Its over to Bournemouth Gardens for a few family formals and then time to move on again, this time to the reception venue the lovely Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole.
Drinks and Canapes on the sun deck and then in for the lovely meal and speeches. Now Sarah Mada and I get a chance to slip away for a few quiet moments and some romantic pictures for their album. We are driven down to Sandbanks, and spend a little while relaxing on the beach watching the summer sun gradually sinking towards the horizon. All too soon its time to head back to the reception, the first dance an evening barbecue and more friends arriving. A hectic but fantastic day!

Real Bride Top Tips

Well the next set of top tips has arrived! This one is from Dulcie and Bob who got married at the Haven Hotel Sandbanks Poole 16th August. Their pictures were taken by Stuart.

Hi Courtenay

Thanks for the follow up call last night – it was appreciated. As I said the album has gone down a storm with family and friends, it was great to get it on Christmas Eve!

There are so many great pictures but it is easy to pick our favourite!! It’s this one, the last one of the evening

Stuart called us out of the hotel, it was cold and a bit damp by that stage (typical English summer then!) and I really wasn’t interested in going out side but I am so glad we did – the picture is wonderful. I spent a lot of time over the years, when staying at The Haven, looking at the view from that wall and I’d never seen it look like that. It makes me think of a new start, the first time I had seen the sea looking like that with my new husband – what a way to start married life – and it’s only getting better!!

As for my dos and don’t well not too much really!!

Do relax and enjoy the organising – it’s really great fun being the centre of attention!! Everyone seems to treat you differently the minute you say you are organising your wedding – you almost feel like Royalty!!

On the day do take some time to watch your friends and family enjoying the day – it will enhance your memories.

Don’t worry about what the weather will do – we all want a nice, dry sunny day – but it’s the one thing we can’t control so why worry about it!!

Lots of Love Dulcie and Bob

Compton Acres Dorset wedding of Ria & Adam

Ria and Adam were married at Compton Acres in Poole Dorset. The day itself started a little dodgy on the weather front, rain…what a surprise! Still off to the house where I found all the girls getting ready and the general mood was upbeat and lively. Ria is the kind of girl to laugh through pretty much anything and although looking out the window and expressing a little sadness at the rain coming down, you just knew that nothing but nothing was going to spoil her big day.
Off to the venue, Compton Acres and the Italian Villa where the rest of the day was to be held. There I found Adam, administering a little Dutch courage, but otherwise in good mood and looking forward to the coming events. Time for Ria to arrive, and with that the sun decided to make an appearance (fingers crossed). A lovely ceremony followed and then everyone spilled out of the Villa and into the sunny (yes sunny!!) gardens. Pimms and canapes and soft sunshine…wow! Just what you need for this venue to really appreciate the stunning gardens. The weather seemed to be holding, time for the few formal family pictures and then a quiet wander in the gardens for Ria, Adam and I to catch a few special moments for their album and a chance for the happy couple to catch up with each other after all the mornings excitement.
Time for the grand entrance for the wedding breakfast, and would you know it as soon as the last guest was seated and the first course being served from the kitchens, the heavens opened and the much predicted rain had arrived – what perfect timing! After the meal and speeches oh and the traditional cutting of the cake, the wedding party made their way downstairs for the evening festivities.
More guests began to arrive and soon the large function room was full, now it was the moment for the time honoured tradition of the first dance of Ria and Adams married life together. The DJ then stepped up the tempo and the evening began in earnest.
Well the weather held for just the right amount of time and all went exactly to plan. Ria and Adam are a lovely couple and I’m glad their day was perfect.

Haven Hotel Dorset wedding of Dulcie & Robert

Dulcie and Robert had a very relaxed informal and intimate wedding at the Haven Hotel on Sandbanks in Poole Dorset. Unusually for a UK wedding, the bride and groom met up on the morning of the wedding with their family and friends, before separating for the preparations to commence.
Dulcie looked truly beautiful, and despite the weather being very ‘British’ the couple enjoyed a really special day with their closest family and friends. Stuart thoroughly enjoyed his day, and passes his thanks to Dulcie and Robert for looking after him so well!
