Orestone Manor Devon Wedding of Sarah & Lee

Saturday saw me heading down to deepest darkest Devon to meet up with Sarah and Lee for their wedding. A fairly unique ocasion for me, as I hadn’t met either Sarah or Lee before! Why I hear you say, well because they hadn’t been in the UK since booking me, in fact they booked me from Qatar which is where they both live and work and which is where they met too!

Anyway first to find Sarah and the girls for the usual preparations for the big day. Not the best of days, fairly wet, but as I arrived the rain stopped and the sun made a valiant attempt at showing itself through the clouds. From Sarah’s my next stop, St Andrews Church in the lovely village of Stokenteignhead (try saying that fast a dozen times over ;-) ) and to the local pub to catch up with Lee and the boys.

Soon its time to head up the steep hill to the Church, Sarah arrives and a lovely ceremony to follow. Out now and off to the next and final location for today, the lovely Orestone Manor in Maidencombe Torquay, this is our setting for the wedding reception. Sunshine…perfect, a few family formals and then just relaxing with fiends and family before its time to head in for the wedding breakfast.

Cake cutting and speeches to follow and not before long the evening is upon us and time for the first dance for Sarah and Lee :-)

Combe House Devon Wedding of Rebecca & Christopher

So off to one of my favourite locations for a wedding, the fabulous Combe House in Gittisham Devon. Today is the wedding of Rebecca and Christopher, a small family and close friend affair and so it seems the day England are to play Germany in the next round of the World Cup – good timing eh ( I blame England for not winning the group of course, if we had it would have been yesterday’s game! ho hum).

It’s a beautiful warm and sunny summers day and the journey down to Gittisham is a very pleasant one indeed. On arrival at Combe House, I make my way to the Linen suite where Rebecca and so its seems Christopher are getting ready! A little unusual, but hey I like unusual. Christopher is soon suited and booted and off out into the sunshine for a walk about before the coming proceedings, I stay with Rebecca for the rest of her preparations and then head off to capture guests now mingling in the great hall.

Soon its time to head to the Green room for today’s civil ceremony, the registrars are all in place and soon the room fills with Rebecca and Christopher’s family and friends. Christopher takes his place at the front of the room the music begins to play and Rebbecca makes her grand entrance. A lovely ceremony followed by the signing of the marriage register, handing over the official certificate to Rebecca and Mr and Mrs Jones headed out of the Green room through the great Hall into the lovely sunny grounds of Combe House.

Relaxation now, champagne, canapes and good conversation an hour or so to while away and what a stunningly beautiful day to do it in too. A while later we all head for the cover of the large trees in the Grounds of Combe House and the few family formal photographs are achieved. Then its time for Rebecca, Christopher and I to slip away to give them a little quiet time and for me to capture some romantic images for their album.

On our return, Rebecca and Christopher are called in to inspect the dining room and then its time to call the rest of the guests in for the wedding breakfast. Cutting of the lovely wedding cake first this time and then the official speeches, which bring much laughter to all.

My time to end today as there is no official evening party, rather a more informal quiet gathering, but it’s been a very lovely day with very lovely people.

Oh yes and the football? Well it wasn’t like we missed anything anyway was it!

Here are a few of my favourite images from the day…
