Highcliffe Castle Dorset Wedding of Victoria & Jonathan

Saturday was a busy busy day! Off to Southampton first to Victoria’s house for the usual bridal preps and then to Highfield Church just round the corner to meet up with Jonathan and his merry men. A lovely black tie do today, I always think it looks so smart to see everyone dressed up.

Soon Victoria arrives looking stunning in her Jenny Packham 1930′s style gown and processes down the aisle to Jonathan. A lovely ceremony and then out into the warm Autumn sunshine, a confetti shower and then into the car for a drive to the New Forest where we stopped for some quiet time and some lovely romantic photographs. Back to the cars and off to Highcliffe Castle for the wedding reception. Drinks and canapes on the lawns of the Winter Gardens and entertainment by the fabulous 1940′s style group the Marjorie Belles, Mum made her speech on the steps of the Castle and then it was time to head indoors for a special kind of show! Showstoppers an impromptu musical company had us in stitches, as they told the story of Jonathan and Victoria’s life from past to future through the medium of song in various show tune styles from lloyd Webber to Lion King, very ‘Who’s line is it anyway’! Now it’s Victoria’s turn to make her speech.

A bit of a breather and then into the great Hall for Victoria and Jonathan’s first dance, not just any old dance mind you, full on Ball Room! Then it was the turn of the guests and family and the Tuca dance Company put them through their paces for half an hour or so of lessons, phew!

Time now to enter the dining room for the wedding breakfast, but first father of the Groom to make his speech. After the meal it was the turn of the Groom and Best man to address the crowd and then the official cutting of the wedding cake. We left the dining room and headed just over the hall to find the waiting band The Lionels, who then rocked the night away.

What a packed but fun day!

Here are just a few images from Victoria and Jonathan’s day…

Lulworth Castle Dorset Wedding of Alison & Simon

You can now view Alison & Simon’s Lulworth Castle Wedding Album over on the main Wedding Photography site if you click here!

Another lovely sunny day (seems to be good at the moment) and I’m off the Alison’s (the bride) family home in Weymouth Dorset for the usual Bridal preparations.
Next its a short hop to the the Church, St Annes to capture the arrival of the guests, most of whom turn up in the laid on coach and of course Simon the Groom. Then its a sharp walk back to Alison’s house to trail her walk to church.  Alison’s brother is giving her away today and the Church is where her parents married many years before. We arrive back at St Annes and a lively fun and emotional ceremony follows.
Back out into the sunshine and Alison and Simon make their farewells and head off in a classic open top Morris minor, the guests then climb aboard the coach and we all make our way across country to the reception venue, the fantastic Lulworh Castle in Dorset.
On arrival of the coach we immediately get the two or three formal pictures over and done with making the most of Lulworth Castles wonderful front stone staircase. Its out the back of Lulworth Castle now into the grounds for Pimms and canapes entertainment by a string quartet. A very relaxed atmosphere, laughter and good company in the lovely summer sunshine.
Alison, Simon and I slip away to give them a little quiet time and to capture a few tender moments for their album, we even made it all the way to the top of the Tower in Lulworth Castle, well worth it for the views of the Jurasic coastline and Dorset countryside alone.
Back inside again and time for the formal sit down meal, followed by the funny speeches. Then an interruption…by two very large and Armour clad Knights! Demands of the Bride and Groom to accompany them immediately, we all head out into the evening air and across the grounds to a well laid out roped off area. Alison and Simon were placed atop a throne, obviously King and Queen for the day, and we were all then treated to some fantastic entertainment which included a fire juggling Jester, Jousting Knights and many other Chivalrous (or not so) Knightly things; Great fun.
A good hour later and the Knights bid their farewells, the setting sun turning the Dorset sky a crimson red we head back to Lulworth Castle. The flares have been lit and the barbecue’s are in full swing. Evening guests start to arrive and then its indoors into the great hall for Alison and Simons first dance together as man and wife. We are thoroughly entertained by a great band from Weymouth, The Crack and soon the party is in full swing and my time to say good bye. What a fantastic day!

Margham Park Wales Wedding of Josie & Alistair

Well, what a fab day in deepest darkest Wales! Arrived early at Josies’ family home in Swansea to find the girls still in their Jammies happily sipping Champagne and having their hair and make-up etc done. Once I had captured all the necessary details including the dress, flowers etc it was time to move on to the Church which was just down the road. On arrival at the Church I found a very nervous Alistair (the Groom) and the rest of the boys already welcoming guests.
Soon it was time for the arrival of the Bride and her entourage, and as I had suspected she would, Josie looked just radiant in her beautiful wedding gown. Down the aisle to her waiting man and the touching ceremony began. Soon Mr and Mrs McFarlane were exiting the Church into the sunshine, married at last!

Off to the reception to be held in the Orangery at Margham Park near Swansea (I’m told this venue is on the UK’s most haunted property list!). On the way however we stop on the beautiful Welsh coastline opposite the Mumbles (which hold a significance for Josie and Alistair) for a few pictures and a glass of champagne!
Soon we reached Margham Park, where most of the guests had already arrived, where canapes and more champage were served. I had been keeping an eye on the weather all day as forecasters had said a low front was on its way! Up until now everything had behaved, but now the sky was starting to lose its blue colour for more of a grey tone and I knew it wouldn’t be long. So with that in mind, I called time for the few family formals and then Josie, Alsistair and I took a little wander to give them a little catch up time and to capture a few quiet moments for their album.

Back inside the Orangery, and just in time too, the heavens opened….good old fashioned Welsh rain! Time for the reception meal, followed by the cutting of the wedding cake and of course the traditional speeches.

A chocolate fountain arrived and was duly set up for the evening and the DJ also started to play background sounds. Evening guests started to arrive and the atmosphere changed again to a more party feel. Soon it was time for Josie and Alistair to take to the dance floor for their first dance and everyone gathered around.
The DJ then kicked up the tempo and the serious partying began, my time to leave. What a great day with lovely people in lovely deepest darkest Wales! :-)

Sherborne Castle Dorset wedding of Georgina & Jamal

Georgina & Jamal are both designers, and as very visual people had put an extraordinary amount of thought into their wedding day, with small humorous touches in all sorts of places. Georgina’s dress stood out from the crowd too – not for her the sleeveless bodice so favoured this year; Georgina had an incredibly stylish 1950′s style dress that suited her perfectly.
Sadly, once again the rain was hideously unkind, but the wedding party didn’t let it bother them – and white umbrellas make for great photo opportunities for Stuart! Georgina’s chosen colour scheme of pure white with accents of bright lemon and lime really made everything feel bright and summery, despite the rain and high winds! Sherborne Castle Dorset made the perfect backdrop of course!

Wardour Castle Wiltshire Wedding of Sarah & Adam

Sarah and Adam have been together for just over 10 years and throughout that time have endured many personal adversities, that coupled with universities, career challenges and just the everyday coping with what life throws at you, they have come through it all and today are stronger together than ever. What shines though all of this is their total and complete love for one another, they are true soul mates, each others better halves. What I love about Sarah and Adam is their ability to laugh through everything and just get on with life, they are a wonderful couple and it was a true privilege to be able to be part of their special day.
Wardour Castle Wiltshire, wow!…. it is a wonderful venue, one I love to shoot at, it has drama, history, romance – it’s just an ideal setting and a photographers dream. The day itself was full of fun and laughter and a few tears, naturally! Sarah spent the morning preparing in the lovely Fleur de Lys Hotel in Shaftesbury, very relaxed and full of her usual infectious laughter. Adam arrived at Wardour Castle in an open topped vintage Landrover, all spruced up and raring to go! Again no signs of nerves, just impatient to marry the girl of his dreams. Sarah finally arrived at the castle and the dream wedding began. Not all of the happy couples guests could squeeze into the small room just off the main Castle courtyard, so a special video link and screen had been set up to give live action to the room next door – as Sarah and Adams vows were finally exchanged, a loud cheer was heard from next door! The next couple of hours were spent leisurely at the Castle before it was time for the couple to leave together in the Landrover to head to their reception which was being held at the Coppleridge Inn in Motcombe Dorset. More champagne on arrival and a few more guests to meet, Sarah and Adam were soon sat down to a wonderful meal. This followed by the touching speeches and a great band to see out the night.
All in all a wonderful day, and for the most part the sun shone too. To Sarah and Adam, thank you for a great day, I wish you all the happiness in the world.

Lulworth Castle Dorset Wedding of Louisa & Simon

Ian had a fabulous day with Louisa and Simon, they were a very lovely laid back couple who had put a lot of time and effort into their wedding. Louisa had taken a lot of trouble over the little details of the day to make sure everything was just perfect and the flower arrangements were particularly stunning. The weather was kind with plenty of sunshine, which is just what is needed at Lulworth Castle in Dorset. Louisa’s family had all come over from China, which made for a lively mix with Simon’s family, there was a lot of catching up to do and this added to a very emotional event, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house during the ceremony. It was a very relaxed day, with loads of small people running about adding to the excitement of the event. In the evening things heated up with a fabulous band who had everyone up and dancing almost immediately, the atmosphere was just wonderful. The day culminated with a wonderful fireworks display which lit up the grounds and castle with fantastic colours…a perfect end to a perfect day.

Lulworth Castle Dorset Wedding of Tina & Andrew

This was a wedding that reaped the benefits of the pre-wedding shoot.
Tina was very nervous before the shoot, convinced she would never like any of the images of herself, and that photography on the wedding day was only to start at the church when she was looking her best.
During the pre-wed session, however, she relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed herself – and after she’d seen the images she decided that having me with her on the morning of the wedding would be really comfortable, and maybe a good thing after all.
The wedding was well planned, with stacks of activities at Lulworth Castle set up for the children – big and small. Bouncy castle, bat and ball activities, a limbo set… the sun shone, and the castle lawn was covered with people just having a great time. The band was fantastic and got everyone up and dancing, and the evening was rounded off with huge fireworks. A great Dorset weeding!
