Gone Fishin!

So, some of you may know, some of you may not, but… well to cut a long story short, here goes…

My eldest son has been rather ill over the last two years (thankfully almost back to his normal self now, and I have to say that’s largely down to him and his self management of his condition – proud he makes me:-)), with CFS or M.E. as some people know it, that’s Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Now for those of you who know how this illness affects you, you will totally understand what I mean when I say it has been very challenging for all of us not least my boy. For those of you who don’t have a clue what I mean, trust me when I say we have gone from one end to the other in extremes of emotion outright despair at times and total frustration at the lack of being able to do anything about our boys pains and suffering!

Anyway, as I have alluded to already, we seem now to be almost there in terms of recovery (thank goodness), which as I have also already said is mostly a testament to my son’s determination and self management of his own condition. He has and continues to make us very proud, especially after missing nearly a year of school and coming back to get top (and I do mean top, an average of 92%) marks in all his SATS!

So, as this is his last year at junior school and potentially his last summer as a little boy (although at 11 he’s not!)  heading off to senior school in September (Gulp!! Where did that time go?), and what with a really rubbish last two years…well I though hey! take some time off this summer to spend with your family and make it one to really remember before the serious world of growing up GCSE’s etc etc descends all too quickly as I am sure (if the last 11 years are anything to go by!) it’s going to.

So I have already had a few small breaks this summer which has been really lovely and now I’m going to take another one and just go and do family stuff. Now I am sort of around, but not..I will still be picking up my emails and can answer anything that is an emergency of course, even a few Blogs will appear! But to all intents and purposes the office will be shut for the next two weeks from tomorrow the 2nd August and will resume to full action again on Tuesday 17th August – I’m really looking forward to it :-)

Thanks everyone, see you soon (but not too soon ;-) )

Best wishes

Just because…

So, there I was sitting in the lounge first thing in the morning fiddling with one of my camera’s and lens after a clean up. My daughter was there, just being her and, well I just couldn’t resist…who could! :-)

I thought I would share a few…

A Studio Session with the Calderwood Family

So another session with the Calderwood family in our studio in Sturminster Newton Dorset. This is the third time I have had the pleasure of shooting baby Logan! The first was inside her mum’s tum on her Pregnancy session, the second was her newborn shoot and now we celebrate Logan’s third month anniversary. Logan was very clever and brought along a few other members of her family to be photographed too, more the merrier! Mum and Dad were very clever too because they decided to invest in our ‘Welcome Package‘ which starts with late pregnancy and goes right through to babies first birthday, what a fantastic record to have of your first year!

The Cooper Family on Chesil Beach Abbotsbury Dorset

Had a great time on Sunday with the Cooper family. We went down to, Chesil Beach near Abbotsbury in Dorset to have some fun. A blustery but sunny day, the waves crashing on the beach a football or two to play with and my job… simply to catch the family at play! Doesn’t get any better than that does it? :-)

A Shoot for At-Bristol…..Bristol!

Well the lovely people at At-Bristol asked me to come down and do a shoot for them. The brief, to capture families enjoying the various exhibits as naturally as possible, right up my street!
The whole day was great fun and I was able to take my family along as well to enjoy the many fantastic exhibits. If you have never been to At-Bristol (which is located at the Harbourside in Bristol in the millennium square), I would thoroughly recommend that you do. The whole place is stuffed full of science and not just to look at either! Touch, feel, smell, pull, push, whatever it takes just get involved its totally hands on. The kids will love it, and I’m talking kids from 1 to 92 here! Oh the Planetarium is out of this world!! They have many special events throughout the year, in addition to the ever changing exciting exhibits over two huge floors. I could go on and on but it just wouldn’t give it justice, go see for yourselves you wont be disappointed, visit the website http://www.at-bristol.org.uk to find out more, you are assured of a very warm welcome too :-)

Here are a few of my favourite images from the day
