Wells Somerset Wedding of Sarah & Andrew

A beautiful sunny early summer’s day, and I’m off to Wells in Somerset to cover the wedding of Sarah and Andrew.

A little back story here: You may remember Sarah from the pictures on here and say I have seen her before somewhere! Well you have, and that’s not just because of her eshoot, but because Sarah with her Mum Sue, runs Enzo’s the hair and beauty Salon and is of course one of the professional weeding suppliers I have the pleasure of recommending (see their recent article on here)!  So of course when I was asked to actually cover Sarah’s wedding, I was absolutely delighted, and today’s the day its actually here at last…

I arrive in Wells and head to the White Hart Hotel, the main venue for today’s wedding. I head upstairs to find Sarah, Mum, nan, well pretty much everybody bustling with the usual morning preparations. I spend some time with the girls and capture the usual details and getting ready shots and then eventually head back downstairs to find Andrew the Groom already looking very smart in his suit.

Soon the registrars are on site and its time for the usual interviews. I head into the ceremony room and am soon joined by Andrew and all of their guests and family, all we need now is the beautiful Bride. And we are not disappointed for very soon, Sarah on the arm of her proud father is soon gliding down the aisle to her waiting groom. A touching ceremony, a lovely poem specially written for the occasion and soon the words, ‘I now pronounce you Man and Wife’ and Sarah and Andrew are Mr and Mrs Ford at last. Official legal documents to be signed and then we are off, out into the beautiful sunshine and across the road into the lovely grounds which also encompass the magnificent wells Cathedral.

Champagne all round then, relaxing conversation, laughter and fun, a beautiful backdrop and beautiful warm sunny day….perfect! Time for a few family formal photographs and then Sarah, Andrew and I slip away to give them some time alone away from the madding crowd, a time for them to catch their breath and spend a little bit of personal time together – my job, to work round them and capture some romantic images for their album.

Soon, its time to head back to their venue and time for the celebration which is the wedding breakfast. I have been invited to dine at one of the tables, which is very nice indeed, I know the food will be lovely but I’m looking forward to the wedding cake (more later!).

A lovely meal, time for the speeches funny and touching and some great football analogy from Dad! Now it’s time to cut that beautiful wedding cake, Ive been looking forward to this all day :-) Sarah and Andrew, like me don’t do heavy fruit cake, it’s just not our thing. So when Sarah told me she was having a ginormous three tiered sponge cake filled with raspberries and fresh cream no less!!!  I have to say I was almost as excited about the cake as I was about the rest of the day ;-) So cake cutting formalities done, its coffee and…well, cake time naturally! GOOD, and I mean REALLY GOOD – you can tell I like sponge cake can’ t you, well this one certainly lived up to its billing.

Well stuffed with lovely food and cake, I must get back into the swing and ready for the evening ahead. We have a little time now whilst the room is readied for the next round of festivities, so Sarah, Andrew and I head back out into the lovely evening sunshine and make the most of the beautiful surroundings to capture a few more special images for their album.

Back inside now and evening guests are arriving in number and soon the venue is bursting at the seams, laughter and good cheer to be had all round. The DJ comes to the mike and Sarah and Andrew are called to the dance floor amid large applause. A quiet hush, the music begins and Sarah and Andrew take their first dance steps as man and wife. Soon joined by other couples and then time for the music to step up a pace. Almost my time to leave, one  drink with Sarah and Andrew before I do though and then it’s goodbye. Another very lovely day, a very lovely couple, oh yes…and a very lovely cake too ;-)

Here are a few of my favourite images from the day…
