So Sunday, I head my way through the wind and rain to to the lovely Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter (near Cheltenham) and my venue for the day, Washbourne Court Hotel. It’s the wedding day of Rebecca and Josh, and I’m hoping for a lucky break with the weather as its such a beautiful area and it would be a real shame if we couldn’t get outside to make the most of it. Well on arrival, I do find that my luck may well be in, as it has stopped raining and there is even a glimpse of some sunshine through the clouds, chilly though!
Anyway after a quick double check around the venue, I head off to one of the hotels cottages in the grounds to find the lovely Rebecca and her three Bridesmaids to cover the usual morning preparations. All is good with the girls, the banter is light, but a few nerves are starting to show with Rebecca but more with anticipated excitement really at the thought of marrying her sweetheart very soon.
Girly preps about done, I leave the cottage and Rebecca now looking absolutely stunning in her beautiful dress and make my way over to the main hotel to catch up with Josh (the Groom) and to capture arriving guests and little decoration details. Soon the registrars are on site, Josh is called for interview and then returns to the wedding room to await the arrival of Rebecca. Rebecca meanwhile makes her way from the cottage to visit the registrars for the legal formalities and then at last the time has finally come to make her way over to the ceremony room.
Rebecca, makes her grand entrance and soon her and Josh are side by side exchanging legal words and personal vows, the registrar announces they are husband and wife and a huge cheer goes round the room. Formal documents now are signed, and then the family and friend paparazzi clamour to get their pictures of the happy couple before they finally exit, Mr and Mrs Whitehead at last.
Champagne and canapes served and because its still rather chilly outside (although dry thankfully), most of the guest stay inside for the drinks reception. However, its time for the family formals and outside into the lovely gardens family and friends join Rebecca and Josh. Formals quickly over, most guests head for the warmth of Wasbourne Court again, but Rebecca, Josh and I are off for a little wander to make the most of the lovely Cotswold scenery surrounding their venue to capture some romantic images for their album.
Its time to head back to Washbourne Court and for Rebecca and Josh to make their grand entrance together into the official wedding breakfast. A lovely meal follows, the cutting of the stacked (cheeses) wedding cake and then time for the very funny and touching wedding speeches. Coffee biscuits and wedding cheese naturally follows and then guests are invited to make their way down to the dance floor and Rebecca and Josh make their final entrance of the day to take up positions for their first official dance as man and wife. The DJ, then kicks up the tempo, the lights go way down low, neons shine and the dance floor fills and the room thumps to the sound of the club scene.
It’s my time to say goodbye: The weather held if but a bit cold, but the welcome and hospitality was very warm indeed. A lovely day, congratulations Rebecca and Josh you’re a great couple.
A few of my favourite images from the day…
