Top Wedding Tips from our 2009 Brides & Groom's

So last year just after Christmas, we decided to have a bit of fun and look back over the previous year (2008) with a little help from our lovely Brides. So successful was this we decided to do it again!
So we have asked our 2009 couples to pick out their favourite pictures (pictures – some just can’t choose only one – Nice to know :-) ) from their wedding day and tell us why.
Whilst doing this I have also asked them to provide me with three top tips from their experience of planning a wedding for this years Brides.

These will all be published on our Blog for you to read over the next week or so.

Today we start with Michelle and Chris.

Michelle and Chris got married at the end of October at one of my favourite locations, Maunsel House in Somerset. Their day was full of perfect little details that Michelle and Chris had spent a lot of time thinking about and they really added that something extra to the festivities. Mind you with Michelle and Chris’s laid back wonderful sense of humour it was going to be nothing less than a great day anyway!

Here is what Michelle and Chris had to say …

Hi Courtenay,

We tried really hard to choose just one picture but couldn’t….that’s the problem with having such a cracking photographer ha ha!

So picture no. 1 would be this one, a very special moment as my Dad was about to get rid of me!

And then we LOVED this one – a classic shot and no injuries incurred!

And because from the very start we always said our wedding wasn’t just about us – it was about a celebration of all those people close to us. And here they are taking pics of our first dance…instead of feeling nervous we both had a great laugh with this!

Our top tips for a brill wedding would be:

1) Speeches before the meal are great – everyone can relax and enjoy their food..

2) Personalise your wedding – don’t get confused by all the wedding ideas out there – think of your favourite things in the world and try an incorporate them into your day. We had a reading that had no relevance to a wedding but meant a lot to Chris and his family as his Grandad (who passed away a couple of years ago) used to recite it at parties.. cue tears from all in the room! We had steak and chips instead of the usual wedding menu, a band that created more of a festival feeling than a wedding…See it as a party and there’s a good chance your family and friends will love it too..

3) Stuffed animals are always great for the welcome line up…..!!!

I know lots of people say this, we weren’t sure if it would be true – but it honestly was the best day of our lives. We partied til 4am and had the best people with us. We couldn’t ever thank Courtenay enough for his energy, advice, good humour and amazing photos…and can only hope if you’re getting married soon that you enjoy it as much as we did!

Thanks again Courtenay,

Michelle & Chris xx
