Adele and Larry’s (Laurence) wedding was held in the Church of St Andrews in the village of Blagdon Somerset. I first went to where Adele was getting ready in a house in the village of Nempnett Thrubwell! What a fantastic name! I was very pleasantly surprised to find Adele getting ready in traditional Indian wedding dress and having had the full Henna treatment done to her hand and arms, apparently Larry had n idea she was going to be dressed this way either, it was a complete surprise, fantastic!
Off to Blagdon to find Larry and the boys in the local pub and then time to head to St Andrews. Soon Adele arrived and a lovely service followed, Larry and Adele are both Christians and had brought their own vicar with them to conduct the service, very enterprising!
Out into the brisk Autumn air, the weather now looking decidedly dodgy and guests started to make their way to the reception. Adele Larry and I however headed to Blagdon reservoir and Nature reserve to capture a few quiet pictures as per their request. Then it was our turn too to head off to the reception which was being held at Larry’s family home in a large open sided Marquee. The theme of Adel and Larry’s wedding was ‘Festival” and many guests donned brightly coloured clothing, funny hats and soon many guests (including the father of the groom) had had their faces painted too! Into a filed next to the garden with views over Blagdon Reservoir for a few family formals and just in time too because that threatening cloud suddenly opened and rain fell heavily, still it certainly didn’t dampen any spirits.
This wedding was a really close affair, you could really feel the love in the room if you know what I mean, just as well as we all had to stay fairly well packed in under the large open sided Marquee.
Speeches were held on the terrace overlooking the marquee (also covered by the large tent too though) and then it was time for Carribean food to be served buffet style.
Darkness began to fall, fire juggling broke out and small children shinned up the marquee poles, just a really relaxed fun atmosphere. Braziers were lit to help give some warmth and the band Blak Flamez took their places ready for the first dance. Adel and Larry took to the floor to rapturous applause, and were soon joined by many guests and family as the wonderful reggae band kicked into full swing. Another great wedding!
