Another lovely sunny day (seems to be good at the moment) and I’m off the Alison’s (the bride) family home in Weymouth Dorset for the usual Bridal preparations.
Next its a short hop to the the Church, St Annes to capture the arrival of the guests, most of whom turn up in the laid on coach and of course Simon the Groom. Then its a sharp walk back to Alison’s house to trail her walk to church. Alison’s brother is giving her away today and the Church is where her parents married many years before. We arrive back at St Annes and a lively fun and emotional ceremony follows.
Back out into the sunshine and Alison and Simon make their farewells and head off in a classic open top Morris minor, the guests then climb aboard the coach and we all make our way across country to the reception venue, the fantastic Lulworh Castle in Dorset.
On arrival of the coach we immediately get the two or three formal pictures over and done with making the most of Lulworth Castles wonderful front stone staircase. Its out the back of Lulworth Castle now into the grounds for Pimms and canapes entertainment by a string quartet. A very relaxed atmosphere, laughter and good company in the lovely summer sunshine.
Alison, Simon and I slip away to give them a little quiet time and to capture a few tender moments for their album, we even made it all the way to the top of the Tower in Lulworth Castle, well worth it for the views of the Jurasic coastline and Dorset countryside alone.
Back inside again and time for the formal sit down meal, followed by the funny speeches. Then an interruption…by two very large and Armour clad Knights! Demands of the Bride and Groom to accompany them immediately, we all head out into the evening air and across the grounds to a well laid out roped off area. Alison and Simon were placed atop a throne, obviously King and Queen for the day, and we were all then treated to some fantastic entertainment which included a fire juggling Jester, Jousting Knights and many other Chivalrous (or not so) Knightly things; Great fun.
A good hour later and the Knights bid their farewells, the setting sun turning the Dorset sky a crimson red we head back to Lulworth Castle. The flares have been lit and the barbecue’s are in full swing. Evening guests start to arrive and then its indoors into the great hall for Alison and Simons first dance together as man and wife. We are thoroughly entertained by a great band from Weymouth, The Crack and soon the party is in full swing and my time to say good bye. What a fantastic day!
